PRIVACY STATEMENT
The Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism takes the issue of privacy seriously. We let the user decide what information to give us, and explain exactly what is done with it. The Center will never sell, distribute, barter or transfer any personally-identifiable information obtained from a user to a third party.Information Gathered
The Center gathers information about its users in order to offer useful and easily accessible online content while providing privacy protection.
Website Visitors and Newsletter Subscribers:
The Center catalogs traffic patterns throughout the site through non-invasive click-through tracking via its webmaster. Summary reports are for the Center's use only.
Business Relationships
The Center website may link to other websites. The Center is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of those sites. The Center currently has no advertising but should it ever, advertisers may collect information about you when you view or click on their advertising or content. The Center would have no control over this data collection (we do not benefit from it nor do we have access to it). You should contact specific advertisers or content providers directly if you have any questions about their privacy policies.
Cookies
Some parts of the Center site use "cookies." A cookie is an element of data that a website sends to your browser, which may then be stored on your computer. The cookies that the Center uses do not link to any of the user's personally-identifiable information.
If you do not want cookies sent to your computer, you can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie. Then you decide whether or not to accept it. If you reject cookies from the Center, you will not be able to enter some areas of the site.
Opt-In, Opt-Out Features
The Center puts control over e-mail communications in the users' hands:
We will provide free e-mail newsletters and communications occasionally to all Texas lawyers with e-mail addresses; subsequently, you can opt out. Each e-mail communication will have your e-mail address with simple instructions on how to delete your mail from our list. We will aslo communicate more often and by e-mail with our Members (current and previous), and with our Course Registrants (current and previous). These e-mails will also enable the user to opt out of the e-mail lists and request information via U.S. Postal Service.

The privacy of the lawyers, law students, judges and members of the public served (herein "those served") by the Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism (herein "TCLEP") has always been of utmost importance to TCLEP. The privacy policy outlined below applies to the social security data we collect from those served. - TCLEP asks that a user of the website of TCLEP, or attendee at a course TCLEP produces, or someone who orders a product from TCLEP, provide us with a social security number at the time of the initial conduct if the user, attendee or other person does not have a bar card number.
- TCLEP needs the social security number to identify the person if the person does not have a bar card number. TCLEP does not use the information for any other internal secondary purpose.
- If TCLEP obtains personal information, it is treated very carefully.
- TCLEP collects personal information about the user or attendee or person (e.g., name, email address, Social Security number or Bar Card number) only if that person specifically and knowingly gives it to TCLEP.
How and when TCLEP will use the personal information:
- TCLEP will take reasonable precautions to maintain the security, confidentiality and integrity of the information so collected.
- Information in a user or attendee or other person's file is confidential and is only accessible to members of TCLEP staff.
Who TCLEP will share this personal information with:
- TCLEP does not sell the information so collected.
- The personal information given us will be used only in connection with the establishment of a membership or account with TCLEP and for other purposes as described in this document or at the point the information is collected.
How does TCLEP dispose of this personal information:
- TCLEP does not and will not disclose a social security number to any person.
- At the conclusion of 3 years after gathering the information, we will destroy the records, including information about your social security number, and will shred any paper copy which contains this information. Prior to the conclusion of 3 years, the file will be stored in a secured storage place. Only the staff of TCLEP has access to records stored in TCLEP hard drive.
